Argentina defeated host India 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 to capture the 2009 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship bronze medal at the event being held at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune, India.

India Head Coach M.H. Kumara:
“I offer my congratulations to Argentina for finishing with its highest placement in this tournament. Yesterday was a great five-set match that took a lot out of us. We had the will to win today, but were not as physically ready. The fourth position is a great accomplishment and the whole country should be happy.”

India Captain Mandeep Singh:
“During the entire tournament, we played better than expectations. After yesterday’s match against Brazil, we were down as we should have won the match.”

Argentina Head Coach Juan Manuel Cichello:
“I want to congratulate my players for this historical accomplishment.”

Argentina Captain Nicolas Uriarte:
“Yesterday, we wanted to win and get to the finals. Having lost to Cuba, we wanted to win the match today and get to the podium.”

TIS Reviews

The initiative is unique and much needed in a country like India. The site is interactive and provides information updates on various sports. In a country which is swamped with Cricket and related site. theindiasportal offers a pleasant break. I see the site having a long term impact on the way athletes and the less-famous sports are treated in India. I wish the site best and look forward to increased density of information on the site. You can also tie up with various clubs which can put in information directly on the site. Also start a discussion forum. - Deepankar Agarwal
