With Real Madrid now seemingly unable to get any more players, or at least the stars, they haven’t made news in the past two weeks. But they have been replaced by the blue half of Manchester, throwing in money from the Middle East. In fact, Manchester City are almost doing what Chelsea did back in 2005 when the Russian came in. I believe City is looking to move their current team to a reserve squad and build a whole new one. They have got the strikers in there, with Tevez and now Adebayor. They chase Terry relentlessly fro Chelsea, and if that materializes, then they get a central defender and captain. Gareth Barry, a proven midfielder has joined the ranks. They are chasing Lescott from Everton. All this with no place in Europe this season. So, what promises are they making these newbies? As I can see that all want to play in Europe. Manchester City are dreaming about a top place finish, I guess, but they might find themselves down on their knees come May and then there will be hell to pay.
Speaking of “hell to pay”, countless people, including the Old Trafford faithful, have marked the signing of Michael Owen as a disaster. What they do not realize is this guy is a couple of goals away from the big time. Playing for Newcastle United has been nothing of an inspiration, and with all the injuries, he has been called a “has-been”. But there is more to Owen than meets the eye, after he scored the winner in Malaysia giving United a win on their tour. I am guessing that he will be used similar to Tevez, but without all the fuss. Understandably, Tevez should have been unhappy the way he was for not getting the starts he may have deserved. But then on one hand you have Rooney, who by anyone’s standards was one of the top strikers last year. On the other hand, there was the £30.75 striker called Berbatov, who, for the cost, should be played all the time. There is no excuse for Tevez’s bashing of United and Sir Alex especially after is move to the other side of town. No one would call him a traitor, but then he won’t be a hero no more either.
And yes, I may even mention that there’re rumors in Spain that Ibrahimovic, the most over-rated striker there is when it comes to European football, may have signed for Barcelona, who, in exchange, have said Eto’o will move to Inter. That seems like a sweet deal for Mourinho. He gets a world class striker and loses a loud mouth loser. Barcelona on the other hand, may not understand just how few goals they will score this season in Europe.
