Maharashtra Cycling Association and Baramati Mandal, Pune are organizing the Pune-Baramati 110 kilometer National Cycling Competition on July 22. This competition is being held for the 4th consecutive year. Rajendra Bishnoi from Railways will try to defend his title and register a hat-trick of victories in the competition. There has been a good response to the competition with 250 participants from the state and 125 cyclists from other parts of India. Prize money of over Rs. 3 lakhs will be given to winners. This is a massive boost for professional cyclists all over the India.
Omprakash Dudy (Rajasthan), Shivratan, Ramesh Rathod, Sagappa Kurani, Shivraj, Sachin Kuriyan, R.N.Rathod. (Karantaka), Atul Sonawane, Tushar Kadam, Saipiyan Donur, Pankaj Malersha, Rahul Borde (Maharashtra), Harpritsingh (Punjab) are some of the national level cyclists taking part.
One of the India’s cricketing legends, Mr. Chandu Borde, will inaugurate the competition, in the presence of the mayor of Pune, Smt. Rajalakshmi Bhosale. The presentation ceremony will be by held in Baramati, with one of India’s most successful captain Mohammad Azharuddin presenting the prizes.
Route:
The competition will commence at Baramati Hostel, Gokhale Nagar, Pune. The route for the cyclist will be from the Hostel and consist of landmarks like Ramoshiwadi Square, Deep Bangla Chowk, Model Colony, Ferguson College, Sambhaji Bridge, Tilak Road, Swargate, Golibaar Maidan, Solapur Road, Hadapsar. This route till Hadapsar will be neutral zone. The actual competition will begin from Hadapsar to Pencil Chowk via Dive Ghat, Jaijuri, Saaswad, Kohrale, Baramati, Bhigwan.
