A1 Team India is the Official National Motor Racing Team, representing India in A1GP - The World Cup of Motorsport. A1GP, founded in 2005; is fast becoming one of the most watched motor racing formats in India & the world. The growing popularity of A1GP in India reflects on the ever evolving performance of the team.
A1 Team India completed its fourth season of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport recently at the Brands Hatch Circuit in the UK, finising 2nd in the race and 12th in the overall championship. The worldwide finincial crisis has brought about major changes in the structure of the team, as budgets were severely restricted. However, the team is more determined than ever before to return next season stronger than ever before. 22nd position in the first season was improved to 16th position in 2006/07 and further improved to 10th position in 2007/08. Team India has been a favourite on the track since the last season when it had two historical wins in Zhuhai, China and Brands Hatch - the last race of season 3. Narain Karthikeyan is the biggest asset of A1 Team India with the credibility of being tagged "The Fastest Indian in the World".
The team have consolidated their strengths from their stellar performances and with the end of season four, are now working hard towards raising the bar even further towards a consistent, never-before performance in the upcoming season. Narain, having driven Formula 1 cars before has adapted well to the technical dynamics of the new powered by Ferrari A1GP cars.
