Results

Final
(1) Daniel KING-TURNER (NZL) bt (2) Alexander SATSCHKO (GER) 67(3) 64 62

In doubles Vishnu and Divij won title beating Purav and Raja, 75 63.

Semi Finals
(1) Daniel KING-TURNER (NZL) bt (4) Young-Jun KIM (KOR) 63 76(3)
(2) Alexander SATSCHKO (GER) bt (6) Rohan GAJJAR (IND) 64 36 63

After losing first set Rohan came back in the match strongly against experienced Satschko ... But in third set he lost concentration when Satschko used time wasting tactics like checking spot where ball fall ... That was more specific when Rohan had 2 break points in 5th game when Rohan was up 15-40 but before every point Satschko used this time wasting tactics and Rohan made couple of unforced errors on Satschko's second serve ... After match Rohan was upset with chair umpire who didn't give any warning to Satschko for this time wasting tactics.

Quarter Finals
(1) Daniel KING-TURNER (NZL) bt (WC) Karan RASTOGI (IND) 63 62
(4) Young-Jun KIM (KOR) bt (8) Rupesh ROY (IND) 26 62 63
(6) Rohan GAJJAR (IND) bt Vijayant MALIK (IND) 60 63
(2) Alexander SATSCHKO (GER) bt (5) Ranjeet VIRALI-MURUGESAN (IND) 61 63

As per report, Rupesh lost his focus after winning first set and Kim take full advantage of it.
Vijayant Malik played casually losing first 9 game to Rohan to seal fate of the match ... German Alexander Satschko looks very strong in this futures, he didn't give any chance to his opponent in all 3 matches.
Dan won 1st game with 3 aces and other hand Karan committed 2 double faults to lose his first game ... After that Dan never lost control over the match.
Happy with Karan's performance in his first tournament after 14 months break ... And I think he will be back in top-400 in few months if he remain injury free.

Second Round
(1) Daniel KING-TURNER (NZL) bt Vignesh PERANAMALLUR-CHANDRASEKHAR (IND) 64 61
(WC) Karan RASTOGI (IND) bt (WC) Mithun MURALI (IND) 63 64
(4) Young-Jun KIM (KOR) bt (Q) Vinod SRIDHAR (IND) 63 62
(8) Rupesh ROY (IND) bt Yannick NELORD (IND) 63 75
(6) Rohan GAJJAR (IND) bt Gilles DE SOUSA (FRA) 63 63
Vijayant MALIK (IND) bt Purav RAJA (IND) 64 64
(5) Ranjeet VIRALI-MURUGESAN (IND) bt Srirambalaji NARAYANASWAMY (IND) 63 60
(2) Alexander SATSCHKO (GER) bt (Q) Christopher MARQUIS (IND) 61 60

Karan's good run after comeback continued ... Young Vijayant Malik scored straight sets victory over senior and experienced Purav Raja who yesterday produced biggest upset beating 3rd seed Vishnu Vardhan.

First Round
(1) Daniel KING-TURNER (NZL) bt N. Vijay Sundar PRASHANTH (IND) 46 64 62
Vignesh PERANAMALLUR-CHANDRASEKHAR (IND) bt I-Ta CHEN (TPE) 61 57 62
(WC) Mithun MURALI (IND) bt (Q) Chin-Yu HUANG (TPE) 64 64
(WC) Karan RASTOGI (IND) bt (7) Divij SHARAN (IND) 64 62
(4) Young-Jun KIM (KOR) bt Ronak MANUJA (IND) 64 64
(Q) Vinod SRIDHAR (IND) bt Rohan GIDE (IND) 63 61
Yannick NELORD (IND) bt (WC) Akash WAGH (IND) 76(3) 62
(8) Rupesh ROY (IND) bt Vivek SHOKEEN (IND) 62 60
(6) Rohan GAJJAR (IND) bt Vikram REDDY B (IND) 64 64
Gilles DE SOUSA (FRA) bt (Q) Kaza Vinayak SHARMA (IND) 63 63
Vijayant MALIK (IND) bt (Q) Elwin ANTONY (IND) 62 62
Purav RAJA (IND) bt (3) Vishnu VARDHAN (IND) 57 76(5) 64
(5) Ranjeet VIRALI-MURUGESAN (IND) bt (Q) Cheng-Peng HSIEH (TPE) 64 76(2)
Srirambalaji NARAYANASWAMY (IND) bt (WC) Sumeet SHINDE (IND) 63 62
(Q) Christopher MARQUIS (IND) bt (Q) Abhijeet TIWARI (IND) 62 64
(2) Alexander SATSCHKO (GER) bt (Q) Kamala KANNAN (IND) 61 60

Amazing start for Karan after 16 months injury break, where he had surgery on his back ... As per report he was looking fit and didn't look rusty on the court ... Rupesh hammered Vivek which shows his current good form ... Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Rounak loks impressive though they lost their matches.
Purav scored very impressive but shocking comeback victory against in form Vishnu Vardhan ... Frankly this result I wasn't expected ... Now I only wish Purav go deep in to the draw and for Vishnu this was big lost opportunity to gather more ranking points.

TIS Reviews

hey guys, this is really a superb initiative in highlighting the sports events and heroes that the media would give a miss (intentionally or not). Just a suggestion : How about having a section for the unsung sports heros (local/national), (current/past),. A section that would showcase their achievements. e.g. Chetan Baboor : Played national level at 16. Won 2 CWG gold. Arjun Award winner. Won national title 4 times. - Abhijeet
